All weddings are special in their own way, but this wedding was extra special to me because it featured family! The groom just so happened to me my brother-in-law’s brother so I was beyond happy when they chose me to photograph their big day.
Since they were getting married in the beautiful Rockies of Canmore, we headed up a day early to location scout and attend the rehearsal and hang out with my sister and her family. If you’ve been to Canmore, you know there is a ton of amazing spots. You can pull over on the side of the road and you’ve got an amazing backdrop no matter where you stop. We ended up deciding on Quarry Lake and the old railway bridge for our locations and then all that was left was documenting the day! We started the morning off at Solara Resort and Spa, which if you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Canmore during your wedding, it’s amazing! Both wedding parties stayed in separate rooms but both were equally stunning. The pretty Haus was there to provide hair and makeup for the girls and they were a ton of fun to work with.
From there we headed over to Stewart Creek Golf Course. If you are looking for a wedding venue, look no further. They had the most amazing spot full of beautiful natural light and nestled right in the mountains. Even though the morning started out with quite a bit of snow by the time the ceremony came it had cleared up and was the perfect temperate for an outdoor ceremony. Now if you watch me at weddings, you know at some point during the day I end up crying. Usually it is seeing the groom crying or watching the father daughter dance, but this time it was when the flower girl walked down the aisle. Why cry for the flower girl? It just so happened to be my adorable niece Zoey. Watching her walk down the aisle was such a proud moment for me and I’m lucky I even managed to get a picture in focus because the tears they were flowing. The ceremony was full of so many laughs and tears.
Afterwards we headed out with AMPM Limousines and had a ton of fun hanging out on the bus and stopping for pictures. I love mountain weddings, but depending on the time of year it can be quite cold. We were there near the end of October so it was a tad cold but this wedding party rocked it! And make my job so darn easy.
Once back at the reception I photographed all of the fun they were having. I love receptions because everyone lets their hair down and forget I’m there and that’s when some amazing candid’s happen.
To see more from their day, head on over to Style Inspired Weddings who did a feature back in January. And head to the bottom for a list of all the vendors.
