Cape Spear Elopement

Golden Hour Elopement at Cape Spear, Newfoundland

A few months ago T and M reached out to me about photographing their destination elopement here in St. John’s, Newfoundland. T was originally from here and had special memories of Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America. They wanted a laid back evening with photos of the two of them exploring some of Newfoundlands iconic scenery.

We started out at their air BNB in the battery. And then we headed for a walk around downtown. One of my biggest requests is for photos in front of jellybean row. While there is no exact jellybean row, there are a lot of beautiful neighbourhoods to explore with some pretty unique colour combinations. One of my favorite things to do on my days off is to go for walks around the row houses. I’m always looking for unique streets to showcase. And we have so many here.

From there we headed to Cape Spear. We hiked around some of the most scenic spots in the area before they had their ceremony at golden hour. To elope in Newfoundland you need two witnesses, Wendy Squires was the officiant and brought along Debbie to act as one witness and then I was the other witness. It is always such a beautiful experience to not only photograph, but also act as witness for such an important day.
