K + N Oceanside Intimate Wedding

St. Philips Oceanside Intimate Wedding

This summer I had the pleasure of photographing some amazing intimate weddings and elopements here in Newfoundland. Among them was this beautiful intimate wedding in Portugal Cove-St. Philips. Kelsey and Neil live in Ontario but had always wanted to visit the island. They decided to book an air bnb with a beautiful yard and then invited their immediate family along for the journey.

Whenever I mention to people that Newfoundland is a destination wedding location they always think I’m joking. But I’ve noticed over the last few years so many clients reaching out from all over the world wanting to visit this magical spot. I am always so excited to show it off, and even more excited when clients are open to the locations we go to. We have so many unique landscapes and our unpredictable weather can be beautiful as well.

They got married in August which is typically the warmest month for weddings. They started out their day with an easy morning with their families at the air bnb. The space was well designed and had enough room for them to hang out and also have some privacy. After doing a first look with everyone, we headed outside for the ceremony. The house had such an incredible ocean view and made the perfect backdrop for their vows.

When it came to picking a spot for photos, I had a few in mind but they all depended on how the weather turned out. Since it was sunny we decided to head downtown to get some photos with the row houses. St. John’s has such a unique downtown area that makes for the perfect backdrop for photos. While we were taking some an adorable cat decided to photobomb. It was so darn cute.

After that, we noticed there was some fog in the distance. We decided to try Cobbler Path in hopes of catching some - and we succeeded! It was the foggiest I’ve ever seen it and it was so darn incredible.

They ended the night having some fish, chips and wine. It was such a fun day and I’m so glad I was a part of it.
