Newfoundland Coastal Elopement
I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many elopements, but this morning was oh so special. Their plan - travel to Newfoundland and elope along the coast of the atlantic at sunrise with their adorable dog. The reality, we kept an eye on the forecast the entire time and there was rain, drizzle and fog that wouldn’t go away.
They decided to take the chance and try for some sun anyways. We met up at 4:30 am in a parking lot to hike into a spot they had picked out together. It was freezing cold, and the sun didn’t come out. But watching them say their vows with their friends and pup as witnesses was so incredibly beautiful. They were married before 6 am then it was time to do more hiking and explore some of the most popular spots around St. John’s.
They had really wanted to hike to Torbay Point along Cobbler Path and decided to go ahead even though it was raining. I’m so glad they did. The location is always so pretty but looked even more magical with some fog surrounding the hills.
From there we headed back to our vehicles to warm up. Since it was so chilly we decided to head to Petty Harbour so we could have time to warm up along the drive. Petty Harbour is such a quaint town and made for the perfect backdrop for them to share a celebratory scone.
To end their morning we headed back towards downtown for some row houses and Signal Hill. Cabot tower can be windy on a good day and was extra windy and cold that morning. By this time we were all frozen and ended the day in giggles over how funny it was that it didn’t stop raining.
Bad weather can easily bring down the mood of your day but I was so grateful they were up for an adventure.
